My Review
What a crazy ride this book took me on. It started off slow but when it picked up I was ignoring everything around me so I could see what was going to happen next. If you think you know everything there is to know about haunted houses The Brown House will leave you guessing at every turn.

Brylee is your normal everyday California girl until her dad looses his job and is made to move to New Jersey where he gets a new job. She is less then impressed with this and the house but puts on a brave front for her parents. While out exploring her new house Brylee meets a girl named Lyn who informs her that the house is haunted she doesn’t want to believe her but strange things start to happen. Then she meets Kayla who informs her that the house is cursed. But nobody else ever sees Kayla and Brylee is forced to realize that she is special and can see and talk to ghosts. Through all the crazy things happening in the house Brylee does have two amazing people she can talk to about the ghosts Lyn her new best friend and Lyn’s older brother Ephraim who she has relationship starting with. But things don’t go as planned when Brylee tries to break a family curse and help the ghosts in her home find peace. Now with the curse placed on people she loves Brylee scrambles to find a way to lift it before she loses them.

Brylee is a strong, smart, loving heroine. She is the type of friend we all want in high school. She handles the situation better then I would have. Lyn is so sweet and stronger then she realizes. But when her best friend needs her she is there to support her no matter how much she is terrified. Ephraim is the kind of hero we all love. He is sweet, loving, chivalrous, and strong. He believes Brylee immediately about the house and wants nothing more than to protect her. Kayla is a sweet and fun friend that we all had growing up.

I loved all the characters in this story even the ghosts. I enjoyed reading about the ghosts past and what lead to the family being cursed.  As Brylee learned more about the history of the Browns my heart broke for them right along with her. I felt like Brylee did every time she was around Ephraim all giddy and excited. When he told Brylee he loved her my heart skipped a beat and I was so excited as if it was me he was saying it to.

Through heart ache, friendship, first love, ghosts, curses, secrets, and a family feud Christy has written a story that draws you in and leaves you wanting more. I am hoping there is another book as we are left with unanswered questions. 4/5 Bats
